PUSHBOATS
MANTIS &
STRIDER

The PUSHBOAT MANTIS was desgined and built by Burnham Associates for a dredging project on The Union River in Ellsworth ME. It has since become one of the most valuble and versatile work platforms in our inventory. Built from three modified Shugart barge sections, the MANTIS is used to advance the dredge, move scows around harbors, and perform a myriad of other tasks.

Although not at the time of this image, the Mantis is equipped with a 10 ton telescoping boom service crane. Recently a raked bow section, built at BAI, was also added to improve both speed and handling.
